This large module spaceframe provided the support for a multi-ridge skylight system to provide lighting through the interior of the new Chevron Oil Geoscience Center. The spaceframe was assembled in a matter of days on the ground and lifted into position in one piece.
Both the crane operator, as well as the 30 Chevron executives who came out to see the lift didn’t believe it could be done. The spaceframe is over 27′ long on one edge and was lifted up over four stories of the building and gently sat down on its support – all in 15 minutes. The lightweight of aluminum makes this possible.
